Erma

Erma Bombeck is my hero, with her ability to capture the reality of everyday life in such a way that makes me laugh & makes me think. In a previous life, I was told that I wrote much like her & was even given the information to enter the writing contest held in her honor (thank you my older sister, the real writer in the family) – but life stepped in, or should I say stomped in, so I content myself with dreaming and reading her work. If you need some good laughs today, I recommend http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/e/erma_bombeck.html

A Year Ago.....

….. a weekend celebration for mom’s 90th birthday. Who could have foreseen what the year would bring – multiple hospitalizations, a stay in rehab, move to retirement center, cleaning decades of memories and “stuff,” preparing and selling her home; a family member’s cancer diagnosis with multiple treatments; changes in employment. And for some much needed joy, the 7th great-grandchild! The moral: don’t put it off – whatever it is you have been meaning to do - do it!

Kitty Litter

In one of those rare serendipitous moments, as I was set to expound on my difficulties with the changes in kitty litter; by accident I came across the inventor. Charles, our graphic arts / video man sent me a link to a new commercial he was working on; an organization that helps businesses to the next level. And low & behold, the man who left the money for this endeavor, Edward Lowe, invented kitty litter. Much more exciting than my belly aching about litter that doesn’t clump right, doesn’t dispel odors right, sticks to paws, tracks through the house, etc.
